RLM Ed Fund High School Oratory Contest

Right to Life of Michigan's annual oratory contests are open to all prolife high school students in Michigan. Contestants will give a 5-7 minute speech on one of several prolife topics. Contests are sponsored by affiliates across the state. The winners of the local affiliate contests will compete in the statewide annual High School Oratory Contest in May. The winner of the state competition will advance to the National Right to Life Oratory Contest.

 

2010 Contest Announced

Right to Life of Michigan Educational Fund is happy to announce the Twenty-First Annual High School Oratory Contest, an outreach to inspire prolife leadership among youth! The State Contest will be held on Saturday, May 8 in Holt, MI. Local contests are held by RLM affiliates across the state.

2009 Contest results

The Twentieth Annual High School Oratory Contest featured 20 contestants in Holt, MI on May 9. The first place winner was Luke Anderson of Lenawee County Right to Life. Luke's speech was about rallying the prolife cause in the face of adversity. Second place was Aubrey Latimer of North Oakland Right to Life and third place went to Ashley VanderGeld of North Allegan Right to Life. Aubrey and Ashley's speeches were both about abortion. All three winners were high school juniors. Congratulations to our winners and all of the contestants for their excellent speeches!

Elizabeth Trisler of Ohio Right to Life was the winner of the National Right to Life Jane B. Thompson Oratory Contest in Charlotte, NC on June 20. Our Michigan finalist, Luke Anderson, did not place but said it was a great experience and he was thankful for the opportunity to compete at a national level. Although Luke did not win, he was in an elite company of finalists out of hundreds of contestants from across the nation. Congratulations Luke!
